John and Gabrielle – wedding part 1 of 2

They’d prayed for a sunny day. They probably wanted it more than anything. The long anticipated morning dawned and the sky was deep blue, with not a cloud in the sky. But it was impossible for it to be anything but sunny, because the sun always shines around these two amazing people.

Gabrielle is my sister. She and John have been together for a few years, and in late October they made their love lifelong and public in a beautiful ceremony in Queensland’s Sunshine Coast hinterland and a reception that followed overlooking the Glasshouse Mountains. It was my honour to be able to document the event, and having all the family there was rare and awesome. These are just a few of the pictures from the beautiful wedding. It’s been a long time coming and I’m glad I can now share these pictures with you all.

Here are some of the amazing details…

The gorgeous dress was designed by Roz la Kelin

And the flowers by Terry-Ann from Mondo Floral designs

The rings…

And my sister’s preparations…

Gabrielle managed to get Evalyn Parsons to do the hair. She is hands down the best hair person I have ever worked with and probably the best in Queensland.

And Danielle from Glamour Make-up Artistry did an amazing job of the make-up

Just stunning…

This image looks Sepia toned, but these were the natural colours in the room at the time…

The boys…

and John, with much anticipation…

The ceremony was held at the Little White Wedding Church in Maleny. It’s a newly restored building and is now used solely for weddings.

He’s stoked to be married…

John and Gabrielle – wedding part 2 of 2

Part 2 of 2… formal shoot and reception

I loved the bridal party, they were all soo much fun..

How cool are these guys… am I allowed to say my sister is good-looking?

I like trying different stuff…

Sometimes, the wind obeys my mind..

Model…

Groomsmen…

A quick bridal before we had to rush off the reception…

And the reception at Maleny’s On Mountain View

The all-Gabrielle inspired birdcage theme for the tables was quaint…

John’s mates have always loved ‘modifying’ songs for wedding receptions!

I’m so happy for the two of you. I know you had a great time over in Thailand, and I wish you all the best as you settle into the routine of life, with each other.

God bless!

Chappo & Bethany

She liked him almost right away. Bethany studied theology and when the young Michael “Chappo” came along and joined her in the course, it was all pretty much sealed right from the beginning. From Bethany’s perspective, what wasn’t to like about Chappo? He’s charming, with really thick hair. If hair was cream, you could say his hair was whipped cream. You can tell when hanging out with these two extremely cool people that they are meant for each other. They have a beautiful connection that is obvious and special…

I’ve been good friends with these two awesome individuals for about four years. Bethany and I used to sing together in The Promise – an octet I’ve been involved in since 2006. I’ve gotten to know Chappo quite well also. He’s a talented guy – very musical and has been a sought after drummer in the past. He proposed earlier this year. But the thing that stands out about them is their amazing passion for people. Both of these guys have dedicated their lives to God and service to others and it shows, right from the outset.

I’m stoked to be shooting their wedding in a little under a week. Here’s some pics we did at Warner’s Bay for a quick engagement shoot.

She’s going to make a stunning bride…

The light got crazy this time of day, but I like it…

All the best in your final wedding preparations guys!

Film

I enjoy taking photography back to its so-called roots and experimenting with film. It’s great fun and film has an entirely different look to digital. Here’s a couple of quick snaps I did at a recent wedding with Kent from Kent Marcus Photography. The beautiful gown Alex was wearing was designed by Peter Trends.

Bethany & Chappo – e-shoot teaser

Anyone who has been to uni knows how stressful the weeks leading up to graduation can be. I’ve been slack with keeping up to the blog lately, and that’s why. Or at least I’m going to blame my course. Yeah, it’s definitely that. Yesterday I went out to Lake Macquarie to take some pictures for my good friends Chappo and Bethany. These guys are getting married in December and I can’t wait to shoot their wedding. Here’s a quickie while I keep blaming my course for my negligence and not doing full posts!

Katie photoshoot

I’ve always been threatening to ‘shoot’ Katie. We’ve been together for about fourteen months, and this is the first “real” shoot I’ve ever done with her. I’m trying to get creative for the crazy wedding season I have coming up, and this is the result.

I had fun today Katie. xo

Big Camp

I’m going to be away for nine days so you won’t see any blog posts here. My next week is going to consist of salt water, sand, sunshine, brown dirt that blackens your feet, good food, campfires, friends, and fun.

I don’t know how I’m going to deal with it.

A fellow blogger once shared with me that it’s better to leave readers with a picture. This one’s from Newcastle. Happy weekend everyone!

Scott and Amy are getting married…

One of the best things about being twenty-three is watching my friends grow and change, and find and fall in love. I haven’t known Amy for an enormous length of time, but I’ve gotten to know her and her cousins over the past two years, especially this winter when a few of us went on a mission trip to Cambodia. They’re great girls, and Amy is happy and outgoing and never ceases to make me laugh.

Amy and Scott have been dating for two or three years. They’re both from Western Australia, but study brought them East. I remember a bunch of us teasing Amy on our overseas trip, “What if you got back and Scott proposed to you?” and she’d brush it off, “Oh no, that won’t happen!” Little did she know that within a few days of her return, Scott would be using one knee and holding out his hand. I’m really happy for these guys and can’t wait to shoot their wedding in Perth in warm WA January.

We did the shoot in a few of my (I think) soon-to-be-favourite locations in Newcastle. I even got permission to shoot in an older-vintage cinema. It was a lot of fun.

What makes me laugh is that Amy and Scott are constantly complaining about how unphotogenic they are! But the truth comes out when you see the pictures. I think I get the best looking couples to work with. See for yourselves!

Adrian and Moe get married…

I said yes as soon as I found out about this destination wedding. Melbourne is a great city and has some awesome wedding locations. My good friend and colleague Kent from Kent Marcus Photography asked me to second shoot for this wedding and I didn’t hesitate.

The day was cold and overcast, which is not unusual for Southern Victoria at this time of year. But the weather certainly didn’t reflect their feelings for each other. Adrian and Moe are so in love and it showed right from the outset of their first glance. A beautiful ceremony followed a few formal photos and a reception came not long after at Potters.

Here are just a few of the pictures I was able to capture from their amazing day…
